I am assured that every man is God
Because the simplest-minded, dullest youth
Witless and ignorant, a stock, a clod,
Has perfect understanding of Pure Truth.
Innate, exact, identical with mine,
Though all in vain Philosophy has sweated
That simplest concept even to define
Humanity is certainly indebted.
To intellect for divers useful arts;
But when it comes to any serious odds,
Our brains play second fiddle to our hearts--
Damned lucky that we happen to be Gods!
